Lost in Translation

Pilates & Horses

Website Design + Photography + Copywriting

The owner of this private instruction Pilates studio was struggling to accurately market her services to potential clients. She caters to equestrians who are looking to improve their riding skills, as well as to the general public and to other instructors. She needed a website redesign to highlight those services.

Her existing website was outdated, with a monochromatic color scheme and poor quality photos. The copy also needed an update. A German native, she struggled with proper translation.

I edited her existing copy into conversational English, correcting terms that did not translate well and making it less formal and more approachable. I crafted the headline “Pilates Instruction for Every Body” to convey the premise behind her business: that Pilates can help every person no matter where they are in their fitness journey.

I performed a series of photo shoots in her studio and on location with equestrian clients to gather high quality photos for her site. Playing off the blue in her logo, I created a more colorful palette for the site, while still keeping it conservative to reflect her personality. We divided the services into sections right on the home page so site visitors do not have to click around to find information that pertains to them.
